For allocating items in our scheduled guild raids, we use an Effort Point/Gear Point system. This works similarly to a loot reel, in that items are allocated according to a priority list, but position in the reel is determined both by how much one has helped the guild in its raids and how many items one has already received.
Current priorities, point totals, and member attendance are kept up-to-date in a public google docs spreadsheet, and history from previous raids in another public spreadsheet.
Points
We award three kinds of points:
Priority is calculated for each player from these point totals as
A higher priority, either through high EP or low GP, means that that player will be chosen to receive a desired item over a player with lower priority. The person with higher priority will always win, there is no randomness. However, when they receive the item, their GP goes up and their priority down, letting others have a chance at winning the next item.
Point Values
Effort Points
Effort points are rewarded for:
Time spent in scheduled raids:
Killing bosses on scheduled raids:
Gear Points
Gear points are awarded for receiving items. The cost of each item is calculated based on its item level, rarity, and slot modifier:
Rarity is 0 for epic items and 1 for legendary items.
The slot modifers are:
Off-spec
In the event that no players wish to receive the item to use for their main spec, it will be awarded to players for off-specs, by priority. Normally off-spec items cost 0 GP, but a player may choose to pay 1/10 of the normal price of the item in exchange for receiving priority on the item over other players.
Penalty Points
Penalty points are awarded for bad behavior during raids:
Decay
At the beginning of each raid, all accumulated points will be decayed to 90% of their previous value. This will not change relative priority standings, but it will prevent players from hoarding high priority and enable new members with high attendance to quickly catch up to established members.
Thresholds
Players are expected to maintain a minimum of 1500 EP and a maximum of 1000 PP. Players that have less than 1500 EP or fewer than 1000 PP will never receive an item over players that meet these thresholds, regardless of relative priorities.
Guests & Alts
Guests earn EP, GP and PP exactly the same as guild members, and items are awarded identically as well. No extra priority is given to guild members over guests.
If a player is requested to bring an alt rather than their main to an instance, they will receive EP as normal, and can compete with other players for items based on their priority.
If they bring an alt without being requested, then they earn EP as normal, but will never receive an item over a player playing their main character.

Points
We award three kinds of points:
- Effort Points (EP), for helping out the guild
- Gear Points (GP), for receiving items on guild raids
- Penalty Points (PP), for unproductive and unhelpful behavior
Priority is calculated for each player from these point totals as
Priority = (EP - PP) / (GP + 1000).
A higher priority, either through high EP or low GP, means that that player will be chosen to receive a desired item over a player with lower priority. The person with higher priority will always win, there is no randomness. However, when they receive the item, their GP goes up and their priority down, letting others have a chance at winning the next item.
